ParticipantHi all,
In need a for tech help please. I have a hotpoint mistral refrigerator, and its had a problem for some time now (not got round to having a look). The fridge compartment does not seem to cool down at all anymore, and now and then the LCD screen will display E7 for a short period and go again. Having looked on hotpoints website, they suggests its the Evaporator thermistor is in open circuit, how ever, i would of thought that this would of prevented the freezer working too, and the freezer still works (however, now and then it does stop working) but I think that it might be the fridge thermistor that is faulty thats preventing the fridge compartment working correctly. I have located the thermistor, but wondered, does any one know how to test if this is not working???
Many thank

The fault will cause the fan in the freezer not to run(no cold air being blown into fridge). When the fridge is running opening and closing the fridge door/operation of light on off will cause the fan to stop/ start. If the evaporator thermistor is faulty, the fridge will think it is not down to temp after defrost therefore no fan operation. Also a dropped fridge door(light staying on will cause this fault. freezer temp may appear normal. fridge will run around +18. Hope this helps.

Hi guys,
I have finally fixed the problem with the fridge not working, and believe it or not, the problem was………..The tube that leads from the cooling elements in the frezzer compartment to the fridge, had become blocked with ice. Maybe one to remember should this problem turn up again.
However, I have noticed a second problem, that is more than likely electrical that you guys might know about.
The temperature on the LCD goes wrong sometime. It displays higher temperatures of both the frezer and fridge, however, this seems to reset to true value when the fridge door is opened and closed
Any ideas guys????
