My Hotpoint Mistral 8596 has not stopped working, but it has become impossibly noisy.
I have tried vacuuming behind the front grille at the bottom, getting out quite a bit of dust, and then squirting WD40 into the cavity behind as far as I could.
That solved the problem for a while but it has returned much louder than before, and no dusting or squirting makes any difference now. The machine still cools and freezes efficiently, but the rattling noise is intolerable.
Now I have tried to remove the back panel inside the freezer compartment, but cannot free it at the top. I can free the bottom of the panel and bend it up and I have squirted WD40 in there upwards as much as possible, but it makes no difference.
Could anyone kindly suggest:
(a) how to remove the back panel so as to see what is going on there?
(b) what other action might help in this case?
