Hi I hope someone would give me some advice or guidance here please. I have the above Hotpoint mistral plus model 8596P. The LCD display constantly flashes “EA”.

The freezer works but the fridge is warm. The condenser and fan at the back both work and it is “fluff” free and there appears to be no build up of any ice. The fan at the back of the freezer compartment works when the unit is powered on. A new thermistor was fitted in the freezer section may be about 2 years ago. But not in the fridge section. I’ve read the long topic about the mistral temp issue. And if need be could replace the thermistor in the fridge or other parts if I knew what it needed.

thanks in advance for guidance on this one.

    😆 😆

    great site BTW very helpful.

    Edit:
the bulb went, which is when I then noticed the other main issue.

‘EA’ no feed back from baffle

theres a abaffle (valve) in the top of the fridge.. if you look at the top of the inside of the fridge, there will be a vent, the motorized baffle is in there, it will be closed

could be a faulty baffle, a quick continuity test will confirm this, if its ok, then the pcb will be faulty

    hope this helps

Re: Hotpoint mistral+ 8596P “EA” error

just having a look at that. Had a look at the top thermistor 1st disconnected and reconnected with and without the baffler connected giving an E3 which went away once reconnected.

The baffler valve was initially able to open and shut by flicking it and it would spring closed. i reconnected it and powered up the unit, then it opened about a cm and seems to be jammed in the open position now and will not spring shut, does that sound faulty?

So it requires feedback from this baffler unit (working correctly) to trigger the fan to blow cold air from the freezer unit then?

    Edit:

The baffle valve eventually shut, it opens when the unit is powered up and stays open a cm or 2. When disconnected from the pcb and the unit is powered the fan blows cold air into the fridge for a couple of min then the EA error kicks in.

Haven’t got a tester with me so will have to have a look at that later.

the baffles are about £25 is that right? If it’s the PCB how much are they..

Re: Hotpoint mistral+ 8596P “EA” error

Looks like its the PCB… 🙁 🙁 but i want to replace the fridge thermistor at the same time, the baffle seems ok motor works etc.

I’ve been on the shop site and cant seem to find the thermistor. Its the one that connects from the PCB into the fridge through the top and clips into the plastic housing that also contains the baffle assembly, Its green with a white connector.

Anyone know the part number and is it on the shop site as I’d like to order both together, a link would be nice. 😆 😆

Thermistor required is p/no 2600284 – it’s not in the shop@ module, so an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk quoting the part number will get thinhs moving for you quickly.

Re: Hotpoint mistral+ 8596P “EA” error

Hi back again 2 years later hoping to get some more help with this unit 🙁

    Some history:
2006 fitted new thermistor in the freezer section
2008 fitted new PCB and thermistor in fridge (attached to PCB)
The PCB was a new type slightly different to the original for this model. All has been fine until now.

Initially the problem was that the fridge was losing temperature and getting warm but now this has become something else.

The problem now is the temperature being displayed in the freezer is +25 C but the freezer is actually very cold. The fridge is reading about -7 C and things are getting frozen.

Sometimes switching off/on it resets and works again other times not. Upon holding the set button whilst powering off and on the display goes from:
    P1-> +8 -> 8*C -> fridge, chiller, freezer.

Does this sound like just an issue with the thermistor in the freezer or evap thermistor or fridge unit thermistor or the PCB?

Having already replaced this PCB with a unit bought from here I’m reluctant to do so again, but if just another thermistor is needed I would do that.

How often do these thermistors need replacing? One in freezer is 4 years old the fridge is 2, while as far as I know the evap thermistor hasn’t been changed.

I would be grateful again with any help with this problem.
    🙂
