Just had a fright. Freezer motor was not running and temperatures were soaring after I briefly disconnected the supply whilst painting the room. Afer pulling the plug for some minutes, it now seems to be working ok. Has anyone ever experienced this ‘brown – out’ style fault? I thought it was limited to computers and set-top boxes. The only other explanation would seem to be a loose connection which re-connected when I kicked it in exasperation.
BTW, this site seems excellent; people mostly seem to have some idea about what they’re talking about!

Normally after a good curry 😆

Seriously though, yes most fridges do this, especially the electronically controlled ones. It’s to protect the motor (compressor) from being started too soon after delivery or moving as oil can run up in to the system pipework and contaminate it.

    Dave.
