ParticipantI have a Hotpoint Mistral FF72 fridge freezer which is about 6yrs old.
The issue seems to be when i put the Freezer under load it stops freezing, i.e the fans cut out and it goes very quite. the display shows it going from -22 and gradually rising in temperature, obviously the fridge section starts to rise as well.
By unload i would have just put in some food into the freezer at ambiant room temparture and trying to freeze it. If i hit FF this makes no differance.
I turned off the unit and cleaned it out, hoover’d all areas etc.
i noticed that the fan located in the bottom was not running. if i remove the none frozen items after a while it starts to freeze again.
Any help would be required.
Note, i have started a new topic, as i did post a similar reply to the bottom of another Hotpoint mistrale issue.
Regards
Carl.

Do you mean the fan in the freezer compartment? Type in Mistral in the search facility. Plenty of info there.

Thanks for the response,
all fans seem to stop as it goes completley quite, but the fan in the bottom of the unit as the back seems to stop as well.
The compressor gets very hot as well, is there a thermal cut out.
I have looked on the forum for other issues, and there are lots. but i cannot seem to match my symptoms with other posts.

It will do a periodic defrost. Cracking noises as ice is melting. How long is it off for? And have the thermistors been replaced yet. Unplug power if you are going to have a look yourself.

Is the condenser fan (the one near the compressor) never running ?
If it’s not, that is the problem 😉

no this does run, but when the problem happens it is stopped, i am not sure what drives the fans, as this seems to be the issue.
What is the trigger for the fans is it the thermostats ??
And why when the freezer starts getting to warm does everything seem to stop. It is almost like something over heats and a thermal fuse cuts out.

If the fan isn’t running the compressor will cut-out (overheat) especially in the recent weather we’ve been having 😉
It may be the motor itself that has failed ?

The fan does run, but the issue seems to be it all stops running once under load. however as i have nothing in the frezzer at the moment both are running fine. But as soon as i put some warm food in the frezzer it will stop working again.
