Good morning!

Hotpoint Mistral FF92 Fridge/Freezer

I am aware that during this heatwave fridges and freezers tend to struggle somewhat to maintain temperatures. I have noticed that although the freezer is always at a constant -22oC and the ‘fridge is +4oC, the motor is constantly running. I estimate that it runs for about 8-12 hours/day. This leads me to 3 questions:
a) Is this normal, even during this hot weather?
b) How can the problem (if it is a problem) be rectified?
b) Very roughly, how much might this be costing me in running costs/day?

The freezer is nearly always full as recommended and the 2 thermistors were replaced in 2004.

Any advice would be most welcome!

Hi

The appliance would seem to be running correctly espessialy within the heat we are experiencing at the moment.

There is a couple of pointers though to make sure it runs correctly.

Check below the freezer door and clean the vent airways(remove the plinth also)with a vacuum.

leave plenty of airway behind and round the sides in this weather.

Thanks for your reply, and for your assurance that the fridge/freezer seems to be operating ok. I will certainly clean the vent airway as you suggested; the gaps around the unit seem to be fine.

Hi Bryan!

Have you any idea of the size of the motor/compressor for this item? Roughly what would be the running costs if it ran for about 12 hrs/day. I believe that it was advertised as AAA
