About a week ago, I noticed the temperatures had gone up to +9 and -10 and there was a short buzzing sound from it, repeated 2 or 3 times, then the sound of something starting to spin but then slowing down and stopping and then followed by the buzzing again. By setting the fridge target temperature to zero, it has been staying below +7 and the freezer has remained at about -10. I thought this was likely to be the compressor failing and as it is an old machine, I’ve ordered a replacement.
The odd thing is that I’ve got home today to find that the temperatures are back to normal, with the fridge too cold at +1 and the freezer at -20.
Was I wrong about the compressor or could it have righted itself?
