I have an intermittent problem with my Hotpoint Mistral Plus (I haven’t got the exact model no. to hand at present). Its about 8/9 years old.

Basically, when the weather is particularly hot, as it was over the weekend, the fridge doesn’t work. The freezer is fine-ish, but the fridge doesn’t chill (display panel says +22).

I messed about trying to reset the fridge temp using the control panel and then pressed the Fast Freeze button out of desperation/ignorance. The freezer seemed to warm up as a result of this

Wifey got in a real panic, as they do, and went to Curry’s and ordered a new fridge on Monday. Tuesday comes and is much cooler than previous days; hey presto, the fridge is back at its normal temp.

Have you any clues as to why this is happening?

The new fridge is due to be delivered tomorrow (Thursday). I obvoiusly don’t want to trash my fridge needlessly and go to the expense of getting a new one if this problem is easily fixed.

Any help will be very appreciated.

PS; I’ve read through all the previous threads relating to problems with H/point Mistrals – very informative and a great help for non-technical bods like me.

    Thanks,

    John.

    Hi John,

There’s slews of info in the forums about this including a seven page thread that describes this fault.

Phew!…what a relief, I hope you didn’t buy another Hotpoint?

Dictionary entry for ‘Mistral’ …….”a strong wind that blows through the Rhone Valley and Southern France”

    …..aaah France!……thought as much 🙄

I pray therefore, for Mistral fridge owners at least, the wind changes direction 🙂
