Hotpoint Mistral Plus (8596P) – Not Cooling

Hi, Im hoping someone can help me with a problem i have with my Mistral fridge/freezer.

Having found the fridge not working and throwing away all the food i had a good look around and found the air intake to the condenser badly blocked (Guess i should have cleaned it before), anyway, i gave it a good hoover out. The compressor runs and the discharge gets hot so there is still gas in the system. The Freezer compartment also comes down to temperature but takes a little time. The fridge section is nowhere near chilling. I stripped out the back panel and found the fan which i guess pushes the cold air up into the fridge section. This fan did not run so i thought i ould take it out and see if it was faulty. Connected a temporary supply to it and it ran fine. I now have a problem as i suspect the fan isnt getting a feed to run. I think the fan usually stops when the fridge door is open (through the light switch) so i guess it might be that but the light stll switches on and off ok. Im stuck now……i would appreciate any assistance as the wife is on my case to get it sorted.
