ParticipantHi:
I have a Hotpoint Mistral Plus FF (model # 8596P), and – following advice from this forum – corrected a temperature problem by replacing the two thermistors.
However, since the repair the compressor seems to be working / running nearly all the time, and so I wonder whether there is a further fault that needs to be corrected.
Please advise

Have you vacumned the fluff behind front panel? What are the temperatures of fridge and freezer?
Regards

Hi Simon:
Yes, I vacuumed the fluff before replacing the thermistors.
The freezer is at a steady -23, which is somewhat lower than the -19 figure that I noticed before the temp problem / replacement of the thermistors.
The fridge is at +4, i.e. exactly on set-point.

John Harrison

Frrezer normally runs around -22 mark (colder than minus 18)and fridge is running at setting. is it in a hot room/ trying to freeze lots of food/ door closing correctly/ not run for 24 hrs yet? Temps sound correct anyway.

Thanks for the reply. In answer to your questions:
– room temperature is normal
– we have not put any new (unfrozen) food in the FF for some time
– both doors are correctly closed
– FF has been running, and displaying this problem, for at least two weeksI would welcome any further ideas.

ParticipantHotpoint – Mistral FF92 Intermittent display fault
Hi Everyone
I Bought this unreliable unit in 2002 and have just replaced the thermistor P/N 2601683. Its the second on its had fitted. The reason i replaced it is that the display reverts from the usual -22 to +37 and anywhere in between. Unfortunately the fault still intermittently exists. Sometimes switching the whole appliance off and then on again can make the display revert back to displaying -22.
So can anyone tell me if there is a control PCB, where it might be located, the part number and possible price. Im loathed to get a new fridge freezer even though this one has been extremlely bad value for money. I shall certainly never got a Hotpoint one again.
Im an electronic engineer so changing a PCB wont hold any probs for me if you were wondering. Oh before you ask, yes , i have hoovered out the front of the unit and there was hardly any fluff in it.
Any help with this will be gratefully recieved as im getting extremely p****d off with it.
Cheers
Mike

Yes there is. Model (I assume FF92 as per the thread title ?) and serial number please as there’s more than one version of PCB on this one 🙂

Hi Dave and everyone else
thanks for the speedy response, im at work at the moment so ill post the serial number on here later tonight.
Just noticed after reading a few posts about this model that mine will also revert back to the correct display if you open the fridge door then close it again. So makes me think its more a PCB problem than a thermistor problem. Fingers crossed anyway.
Cheers

Hi everyone
the model number of the item is Hotpoint Mistral FF92P
the serial number of the unit appears to be either 95181570 or 85181570
To confirm: the display displays temperatures all over the range between -22 and +37. But opening the fridge door will make the display change instantly back to -22.
Could this be a faulty control board PCB ?

Possibly but I would recommend an engineer to be honest as the PCB is £96.60 inc VAT and carriage, part number 2602920 which may prove a costly misdiagnosis 😉
We can certainly order if required, an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk please 🙂

Did you resolve this, its exactly the same problem im having, freezer temp fluctuates dramatically.
