I am having problems with my Hotpoint Mistral (FF80) fridge freezers temperature control. Both the freezer and the fridge compartment are running too high(+17 fridge, -6 freezer) no matter what setting I save. I am not getting an `E` error message on the display and was wondering if anyone could help diagnose the problem and advise on the spare/spares to replace ie. thermostat, thermistor etc.

    Open both doors.
Does the front part of the cabinet that seperates the freezer and fridge feel quite hot?

If so the condensor fan has stopped working and your compressor is overheating and cutting out resulting in these kind of temps which used to be a common fault on these.

Also pull away the bottom plinth as there can be a large build up of dust in the intake for the condensor also can cause faults which would just need a hoover out.

Thanks for your input. I did as you said and found the mid section between compartments was very hot. I removed the bottom plinth at the front and found the condenser compartment totally blocked with dirt/fluff. This was removed and vacuumed then I openened the rear bottom cover and this also needed cleaning. I plugged in the power and the compressor began to run immediately but the condenser fan was not running. I checked the in-line 80m/amp fuse and it is fine. When I run the compressor for about a half hour the fridge compartment was still showing +22 and the freezer abour +6. Nothing appeared to be changing.Do you think replacing the fan will help to any degree or do I have a gas/blockage problem with the compressor?
