Hi, we have the HOTPOINT OPENSPACE MULTIFUNCTION OVEN OS897DIX and after use tonight we are seeing the error code FO1 or FOI on the screen, and the top oven was remaining permanently on.

I turned off at main allowed it to cool then switched on again, the error code appears again and the top oven starts to heat up even though the switch is still in the OFF position.

I removed the insulating divider whilst it was still on and this cut the power only momentarily to the top oven then it stared up again, I then replaced the divider and the same happened it stopped for a few seconds then started heating up the top part of the oven again.

I’m struggling to find fault codes for this machine but I did find the following :

    F0

    Stuck touch pad

Usually means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced
If this fault code cannot be cancelled, replace the oven control, touch pad, or both

    F1

    Stuck touch pad

Usually means that either the touch pad or the oven control is defective and needs to be replaced
If this fault code cannot be cancelled, replace the oven control, touch pad, or both

Any advice please ? – Thanks

Hi: I couldn’t actually find any fault codes listed for this, even on the Hotpoint site (Nothing unusual there though). It sounds from your description that you may have a faulty control board, but without testing it it’s impossible to say for sure. Your safest option would probably be to call a good local appliance engineer to check it out for you, if you take a look at the link above your post you’ll probably find an approved engineer local to you.

Much appreciated thanks for the effort.
It turns out that it’s ‘covered’ within hotpoint’s five year parts warranty but at the cost of a call out costing me £110 notes… Awaiting engineer towards the end of this week.
They have suggested and so have some local guys I called that it’s the main board which has gone and needs replacing, I guess a new board at £110 cost me is not too bad if it lasts another four years of good use.

Only gripe I have is with Hotpoint’s customer services people, their lack of proffessionalism is some what to be desired.
Initially booked for a visit last Friday having agreed with the agent that I don’t arrive home until after 1400 hours, to get a text on the day stating we’ll be with you between 10:00 and 12:00 hours ! Err hello , there is no one home…

Then the engineer refused to alter my time as too short notice, and he’d already planned his visits for the day , even though they knew FOUR days in advance and it was put on the notes…

Hi: Yep Control Board or Main Board as they class it is the most likely bet. As for their customer services dept, it seems to be a bit of a joke. They have people on the end of the phone promising things to people but from what i’ve seen of it they very often don’t pass the promises they’ve made on to the engineer doing the call. Please let us know what happens.

With regards to the engineer timings from experience it will be the person who took the call who screwed up, they have 3 time bands, AM , PM and anytime. if the PM slots are all ready taken then they should only offer you AM or an anytime whitch the engineer chooses on the day based on his route, the issue is these call centre guys just say ok PM even when all the slots are taken and put a note on the call saying PM only. This just is not possible for the engineer to do, then you get let down.

Another note is they work less on a friday this time of year due to summer allocation. After 2 would be a big ask on a friday
