We bought this new recently and after using it for a few weeks have noticed that the temperature control knobs are very vague.
The temperature settings are round the rim of the knobs and are difficult to see when the unit is fixed as ours is at eye level, but the real trouble is setting an accurate temperature, very important for cakes etc. For instance choosing a temperature of 200 means you have to line up the centre of the 2 0 0 against a very course round mark on the panel so the temp could be 190 or 210. There’s no way of taking the actual temperature inside an oven is there and we wondered if anyone has come across a way round it. We have stuck a round paper disc with temp increases in 10 degree steps but it’s very hit and miss. Her indoors is not too happy about it! Has Hotpoint brought out a mod. kit for the dial? Any ideas on how to control the temperature better please?

Hi: As the oven is New then Hotpoint should be your 1st point of call, explain your problem to them & see what they have to say. You can take the actual temperature inside of the oven but you would need to buy a special type of thermometer to do so.
