    Hi,
have a couple of customers who seem to melt these on a regular basis. I have 2 old(new) Belling elements that have a rating of 2200w, 200 more but the same mounting and size which would last years but would it be ok to fit these? I think so but would like a second or 20th opinion. I have tried to educate them to loer the stst if they open the door during cooking.
    Thanks

You don’t say what model it’s for but I’d think it easy enough to find a 2000w alternative to fit. I’ve even fitted an element with a different bracket, necessitating the drilling of extra holes when the correct replacement was unobtainable/obsolete.
I have used elements of a 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} lower power but think increasing the power by that much is not something worth even the minute risk.

200w is not going to make a huge difference to the stat switching. Having said that, I would tend to fit the correct element and be looking at the fan motor slowing when hot or faulty door seals or hinges TBH.

Can’t remember what make but some while ago ordered a gen element which was replacing a 2.1kw and was sent a 2.6 the manufacture said this was OK and was the replacment. Fitted and no problems.

If they say it’s OK, it’s their responsibility if something goes wrong. Just cos it’s Ok in one case doesn’t make it universally so. Always best to err on the safe side. (IMO).

    Thanks lads,
Maybe not a good idea after all.
Steve, I have checked hinges, seals, fan speed and all ok so perhaps it’s just them as most seem to last.
