Hotpoint Oven SE481012X Error code

A friend has a Hotpoint SE481012X (~2008 vintage) built-in oven which shows the error code F12. When “start” is pressed the fan runs briefly then the error code is displayed and the fan stops. I understand that F12 indicates a communication fault between the touch pad and the oven. The simple fix of switching off the oven at the spur for >30 minutes hasn’t worked.
If this is an electronic fault, is the touch pad repairable or replaceable?
Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks.
