Can somebody please remind me how to reset the water levels on a Hotpoint washer.

Replaced a pump on one today and now the pump is just running continuously.

    Why does this happen?

Thankfully it’s only happened 3 times for me but i’ve never had any success resetting it.

It’s got to the stage where i’m a nervous wreck when clearing or replacing a pump on one of these machines.

doesnt always (never in my case) work. it seem to me that the board can sometimes be taken out by a blocked pump. as a filter is a customer maintenance issue why should there need to be any sort of jiggery pokery needed?

In my experience this problem seems to occur on a limited number of arcadia 3 phase modules (notably those running firmware starting 46….)

The module continually tracks and stores the level sensor data. If the machine is unplugged and drained manually the level reading does not match the stored value on reconnection.

Putting water in the drum my sort the problem especially if the level is near to the amount left in at the point of when the fault occurred

It has been reported that leaving the machine on program for several hours may reset the module (never tried this due to risk of flood)

In some cases disconnecting the pressure sensor and starting a program to force an F5 has reset the module

The most reliable method is to reprogram the PCB settings file.

If the pump was burnt out it could have taken out the module, I have had it a few times. Otherwise it is a re programme of the module

I’ve had this many, many times on Hotpoint washers. I’ve learnt the hard way. I never tip the machine backwards to empty it. I always keeps the machine running on a drain/spin function while trying to get the water out, either by lowering the hose into the washing up bowl or even as a last resort cracking open the filter and slowly getting the water out that way into towels. I know if its worked when the drum starts to turns while its on a spin/drain.
The machine needs to know itself that the water has left and the pressostat has reset. You’re knackered though if the filter is jammed. Its the most infuriating fault and i’ve tried everything over the years to get the pcb to reset manually. Once its locked out in my experience only a reprogram of the pcb will work.

I dont know the models but before I tip any Hotpoint backwards, I take the lid and look for one of the newer pressure switches (pressostats) If its the newer type DO NO TIP

It worked. First time I’ve had success 🙂

If no programmer available then drain machine slowly through the filter while it’s powered up so the module can track the pressure level as the the chamber empties out. When completely empty disconnect appliance and sort the fault.

Assuming the pump has not shorted and blown the module then the machine should work without issue.

If there’s a problem such as customer intervention the module may have locked out and will need one of the above listed methods to get it back to normal. In the worst cases you could always send the board to EMW for reprogramming.

Best method for peace of mind is to invest in a programming system to re-set the configuration file.

Had another one in on Saturday. Model WMXTF942GUK CC 080858880196 Serial 510…… with module C00305416 FW1:010100. Customer had removed filter to drain it down. Settings dump and reflash with skyprog cured it in a couple of minutes.

I have came across this issue twice. I threw water into the drum and set it to spin. After a few minutes the machine went into a spin. I let it finish and they both worked afterwards. I could have been lucky though.
