why just those models?, the 100bit cards where in loads of different models with same setup and wiring?

Its a specific timer problem fitted to those models between 2006 and 2007,

I believe its to do with a manufacturing issue with one of the connectors.

These models were the EVO 3 re released updated versions and are deferent to the earlier EVO 3 versions even though they are very similar.

I suppose the only good thing about this is that at least 75 per cent of the 70,000 Hotpoint dishwashers sold in 2006-2007 must have been made BER and scrapped by now owing to their very short life span.

I have tried to repair many hotpoint dishwashers with this faulty pcb fitted and for safety just scrap the machine as soon as I see the model numbers 🙂

    Re: hotpoint recall 70,000 dishwasher

They’ve only recalled dishwashers with these boards manufactured from June 2006 to March 2007. As far as I can make out all the dishwashers using these boards apart from FDW20, FDW60 and FDW65 were either discontinued before June 2006 or had switched over to the new smart card enabled pcbs.

That’s a good point, what about the integrated variant?

    Re: hotpoint recall 70,000 dishwasher

I believe it was to to with production of the 2 replacement control boards as its a different board on the fdw20 than the 60/65

I heard they could only manufacture 5k a month so they had to Wait to build up stock.

How true this is I don’t know but that came from an engineer, if that’s the case it would explain it as it would be far worse to recall and not be able to rectify the problem in a short timescale.

    Re: hotpoint recall 70,000 dishwasher

not at all mad angler, from a consumers p/o/v its far worse to not issue a recall if theres a known fire-issue. Personally if I had an affected one, id just not use it till indesit sorted it out. The problem lies with the “its my rights” lot that would insist on it being done straight away or have a refund or repacement if that wasnt possible thats stopped indesit doing this, which in this trade i can understand indesits logic, however thats a massive gamble to make, especially if a death was the result. The PR damage caused by a recall is nothing compared to that of a death by negligence claim. Just ask beko…

Does this affects Hotpoint FDW 85? The age of the machine seems to fit in that time frame and it had just had it’s pcb board blown up. I recently replaced the detergent dispenser on this unit and it was working perfectly well until of late. I am not sure if I am looking at faulty board caused by the detergent dispenser or just it was waiting for it to happen. I am going to have a look tomorrow to find out more.

    Re: hotpoint recall 70,000 dishwasher

That is not listed in the recall and it used a completely different bit timer. That all look very much the same but there are quite a few different ones.

This particular issue seems to be around the heater connector on the board, the pink and white wire goes to it, there are 2x single spade connectors on the board and its the outer one closeted to the edge that seems to be the issue.
