Been having a bit of trouble with Hotpoint refrigeration appliances of late, i’ve been replacing ‘stats for years (don’t do any other refrig’ work). I seem to be having bother with fridges that are cooling too much after a replacement ‘stat. I’m installing part no’s 261055 in larder fridges & they give bother, part no’s 250341177 in ice box fridges & part no’s 250341077 in f/freezers, all come back with same fault a week later not turning off & freezing all the time!
These are genuine Hotpoint supplied parts & are ordered & supplied as suitable for the models etc.
They come with sheathed capillary etc, & i’m careful to to mount them correctly on evaporator!

Any ideas as to why i’m getting this problem!
    Ta for now,

    Re: Hotpoint Refrigeration T’Stats

I know it may be blindingly obvious but it catches a few out, the terminals on the larder and fridge/freezer stats now switch on 6 and 4 as opposed to 3 and 4 on the older Ranco stats. This changed some years ago now so I assume that we all are aware of it, but I still tell all the public customers who buy them over the counter as they only bring them back whinging that they are faulty.

By the way, you can put the 250341077 in the larder fridges as well if the capillary can be “lost”.

No suggestions for the ice box fridges though 😕

Maybe a bad batch of stats ?

    Dave.

    Seamy,

I had the same problem about a year ago. On all occasions I changed the stat like for like and the fault didn’t re-occur. Bad batch as Dave suggested!!
