Just hopefully this may help someone, I’ve recently been given a Hotpoint washer dryer just out of warranty that would start the cycle and part way through fault on F01 , the description for this is shorted motor triac or faulty PCB , upon investigation I found the heater element open circuit, I replaced this with a new one from EBay for the grand sum of £10 and now the machine operates perfectly, so clearly Hotpoint fault codes can’t be relied upon, the machine was going to be scrapped and the owner had been told it wasn’t worth repairing!
Most Hotpoint/Indesit fault codes now have engineer subcodes which can only be seen when the engineer checks the module using special diagnostic software.
The F1 fault code now has 18+ subcodes which include feedback faults from internal module components as well as heater, pump, and various external sensors.
As time moves along the general F1 F2…. etc codes listed for early models are becoming less relevant on newer appliances.
