    I cannot get the top off of my Hotpoint RLA34G so that I can replace the thermostat. I have removed the 4 screws from the panel abbove the door and 2 from the internal light but the top is as solid as ever, I have tried levering at the sides but only suceeded in distorting the plastic. Do the side panels need to come off first or is it ‘clicked’ into place somehow. Any advice would be appreaciated.

    is there not two slots on the underside of the knob?

    as far as i remember, you undo the screws and just pull the small access panel down

    If you mean the whole top of the appliance it does not come off.
