Hotpoint RLA51 fridge – noisy

I have just bought a Hotpoint RLA51 fridge and it at times it gives out a gurgling noise (like a heavy breathing Darth Vader!). It is quite noisy, I can hear it in other parts of the house when the house is quiet. Is this normal and what do people think is an acceptable noise level from a modern fridge?

Dave, if its brand new, give it a few days running. If its still noisy, call the manufacturers service number to get it checked out. Its difficult to define what is acceptable noise or not, but you shouldnt in general be aware of too much gurgling and it could indicate a fault that may cause problems in the future.

My experience with the newer hotpoint range(rla,ffa,rza ect) with r600 refridgerant is that they do tend to make more noise than the earlier models, they do make a grunting, gurgling noise. But for peice of mind get hotpoint to check it out.
