ParticipantHi there, I hope someone can help me.
a couple of days ago my toddler was pushing the buttons on my hotpoint slimline dishwasher sdl510 and since then the start and end lights have been flashing rapidly. I’ve tried switching it on and off at the mains which on turning back on it appears unresponsive but 5 minutes later the start and end lights start rapidly flashing again. Pressing any of the other buttons does nothing. I’ve searched your site but can’t seem to find anything related to this slimline model. we’ve not had any previous problems with the dw so I’m presuming that the control panel needs resetting but I can’t seem to find any instructions on how to do that either. Any help is appreciated 🙂June 17, 2013 at 8:15 pm #396513iadom

It is supposed to be a communications error, the control pcb in the door cannot communicate with the main pcb in the base. May just be a coincidence, can be caused by loose/broken wiring or faulty pcb’s
Are the salt & rinse aid lights flashing at the same time?
You need to leave it switched off at the mains for at least 30 seconds to reset.

Thanks for responding so quickly 🙂
no it’s just the “start/pause” and the “9h/End” that are flashing. I’ve just switched it off at the mains for a good minute and switched it back on again but still no lights come on but give it 5 minutes and the start/end lights will start flashing again.June 17, 2013 at 8:59 pm #396515iadom

Strange, error messages are supposed to flash the salt & rinse aid lights as well. It shouldn’t really be possible to mess it up by pushing the buttons but with Indesit electronics anything is possible. 🙁

Well thanks anyway for responding so quick. Looks like I’ll have to call someone out after all. I’ll let you know what the outcome is.

Turns out a tiny slug had managed to squeeze its way into the control panel – result fried slug! New panel put in and all is working again now 😀

Not as uncommon as you might think, several reports of slug damaged pcb’s on the trade forums.
Glad you got it sorted and thanks for the update. 8)
I did say that I didn’t think that junior was to blame though. 😉
