    Hello all,

I’ve had a look through the forum and can’t find anything that quite fits my issues however if any of you think it’s something common please let me know.

I’ve inherited a 9 month old Hotpoint Slimline dishwasher HSFE 1B19 UK from my parents as they have moved and no longer need it. It was working fine for them.

The problem is the dishwasher only completes a cleaning cycle on the quick 30 min wash. It will fill, release the detergent box and mostly dry before beeping to let me know it has finished. There will only be a small amount of water left in the bottom under the food guard grill.

On any other setting it will complete the rinse cycle and then stop after pumping away the rinse water. It will beep 3 times then turn off, no error codes blinking or anything. It has sometimes completed on the odd occasion that I have tried it, I would say a 25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} completion rate when testing.

The water feed is from the hot house system but I have also checked it connected to cold feed and the same issues happen.

If anyone could point me in the right direction for troubleshooting that would be great.

    Hi Dave

Unfortunately they never registered it and they don’t have proof of purchase any more, my dad can’t even remember where it came from. (He is 90 and not totally with it Unfortunately)

to determine what the unit thinks we need to know what lights are on at the time of failure

there are 3 lights that tell you where you are in the programme Wash , rinse and end
also the button you push to start it

the wash light is light 1
    rinse light is light 2
    end light is light 3
and the start button is light 4

any other light may flash but ignor

need to know which ones are lit

ie 1 lit all the rest off is fault one flooded base

does the cycle change when you move the knob ?

was thinking if the knob was broken all programmes would be the same

I’m fairly confident that the program is changing when the knob is moved as I’m getting different outcomes from the quick wash vs the rest of the programs.

There is no other indication of which program is running other than where the knob is pointed.

So I have run the full cycle twice, both times it stopped after 20min ish, I could hear the rince cycle finish, sounded like the drain pump ran then the cycle stopped. 3 beeps, no other LEDs on other than the power one. The washing liquid draw did not open.
Straight after I ran the quick wash and it ran fine. The washing liquid draw did open in this cycle.

Any pointers on anytjibg to check or is it best just to strip it down and have a look at each bit?

Cheers for your help so far.

sounds like its setting a rinse cycle not a main wash

    So I thought I would return with a quick update;

Last weekend I took apart the dishwasher to give everything a good clean. I found that the water draining pump was working but only just. It was all gunked up with what looked like old food and limescale (very hard water area here). Gave that a good clean along with removing the waste pipe and cleaning that too. Also increased the salt that is put into the washer during the cycle.

Put it all back together, and it now runs all cycles!
It would also turn out that 3 beeps must have been a error code, although I can’t find it mentioned in the manual. It now only makes 1 long beep at the end of the cycle. So I guess the quickwash was erroring out but as it had finished its single cycle everything was clean anyway.
