Always shied away from buying one of these due to their price and infrequency of use. I decided to bite the bullet about a year ago and get a used one from Ebay for £30.00. A bit of a punt I know. Anyway, finally got round to using it today with a new module and unused card direct from Hotpoint. Tried several times but all I got was the red light flashing, described by Hotpoint as ‘Download KO’. So most likely I’ve bought a faulty reader although can anyone advise me re the reliability of this whole process, ie do boards and cards arrive faulty much, do you sometimes (as the instructions seem to suggest) have to try more than once to get it to work etc? Any help or amusing comments welcome 😉
If it doesn’t download it’s usually the module from my experience I by smart card and module direct any issues then I go back to hotpoint they are pretty good at taking faulty parts back

It turned out for me that the reader was too old and not compatible with the pcb – what part no is your reader and what machine are you trying to program?
