ParticipantLong shot i know 🙂 but does anyone know where i can get hold of a spin motor for this hotpoint single spinner? only numbers on it says 40481-86 but the motor is the same as the twin tub spin motor. It’s for a lovely old lass and i really want to say i’ve done my best to fix it for her. I had one in my old spares but it only spins for about 10 secs then cuts out and starts again. I’m in Leeds by the way 😀 cheers for any info.

Could be a 1012.
Is it a relay start or a capacitor run motor?
Has the motor burnt out or have the bearings gone?
If bearings then I have changed bearings in those motors many times.
If the stator has burnt out then one from a wash or spin motor will do and can be easily swapped over, you just need to remove the fan.I have just had a dig around in my garage and I do have a good stator. I am 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain it is for a relay start motor as the wires are red/yellow/black. It has been on the shelf for at least 20 years or more. :eeek:
If it has burnt out then you should fit a new relay, if you don’t it will burn out again in no time at all. If you are very careful it is possible to open up the old relay to allow you to clean the contacts, just carefully drill out the two small rivets, open it up and let the plunger drop out, A fine file is good for cleaning the contacts.

Let me know if you want this stator, I may get a job for it soon.

Yea that would be great thanks. It is the relay start. The original stator had burnt out. replaced it with a complete motor we had and that burnt out too, but i made the mistake of not changing the relay (long time since i done one and i forgot! lol) changed the stator with the original rotor and changed the relay and that jammed up on starting so changed the rotor too and it runs for 10 secs then shuts down then starts up again and goes on like that. Pretty sure the rotor is ok so willing to go for changing the stator again and the relay if necc’y. How much? and how can i get it from you please. ta.

You can collect it from here, have you got a good relay, I don’t think I have one now but as I mentioned they can be cleaned up with care.
The original wash stators did have an overload built into them, you can see it sticking out of the windings, a small dark square plastic doofer. Not used on the spin motors as they would run perfectly even if the spin can was seized.
I will PM you my contact details, you can have the stator, I was only joking when I said I might find a use for it. 😉

This is now an old post, but if you need the relay I have one.
Can post it out. -
