Hotpoint Super Plus 7822 not switching on

Our Hotpoint 7822 was working perfectly last time we used it.
This morning I shut the door on the dishwasher, turned on the wall switch and pressed the mains on/off switch on the front of the machine. Usually at this point an amber light would show. This morning there was no amber light but when I opened the door of the machine the amber light came on (glowing slightly dimmer than normal) . On closing the door the light went off again.
Does this suggest a faulty door switch or a wiring loom fault where the wiring from the door enters the base of the machine? Any guidance would be appreciated before I start blindly taking things apart!!

Door wiring harness the most likely.

Thanks iadom. Is such a fault to the door wiring harness usually worth repairing or is it time to move on to a new machine?

Really depends on where the break is and how many of the wires are damaged. Usually down by the left hand hinge but due to the age the wiring may be a bit brittle now. Harness NLA as a spare .

It’s worth taking the outer door off to have a look. Very common for the wires to break. Power off first though
