Hotpoint SY36 oven

I need some help on this oven please..The oven temperature won’t exceed 140 deg,I changed the stat thinking that was the problem,the fault was still there.
There was slight leakage on the element so I changed that,still back to square one.
According to the customer this fault has been on the oven from new but decided to nothing about it until now.

That’s very odd??? :hmm:

When it’s running does the fan and element appear to throw heat into the oven cavity OK? Does the thermostat cycle on and off as per normal or does the whole fan and element shut down once it reaches 140 degs?

The oven must be best part of 7 years old and if it only ever goes up to 140 then she must start cooking the Sunday roast on a Tuesday? Or perhaps they mostly have fry-ups in their household? 😈

Hi Martin

The stat operates to 140 deg with the motor still running and then the stat just cycles.
She has been a combi microwave all this time!!

Is that oven one with the knobs that look like they have two pointers,
i have had customers set the oven to the wrong side of the knob.

Yes,Roy1 the knob does have two pointers but they are both lined up with each other.

OK

All sorted.

It was a faulty GENUINE thermostat,being honest I was going round in circles on this,yet the more i thought about it,It had to have been the stat!!
