Have repaired loads of Hotpoint T/D’s (e.g. VTD00) and almost always have a problem with the back of the drum rubbing on the back panel. The rubbing stops if I squeeze the corners of the machine. Have made sure that there is no fluff in the front bearing, that might be pushing the drum back, and tried putting a washer on the shaft between the drum and back panel to try and push the drum forward. There is no frame-work on the dryer, the only things holding it together are the panels themselves. Surely there must be plenty of you who have expierienced this problem, so was wondering if anyone has got any handy tips to solve this frustrating problem?

    A well documented problem.

The only real cure ( apart from the obvious ) is to replace the inner drum. It has been modified with a rounded rear edge to prevent this fault.
