    Hi

Wondered if anyone can help. I’ve got a hotpoint tc71p which doesn’t heat up but otherwise seems to be working. We have changed the thermostats at the back of the dryer.
We have done this before it has worked but this time when we changed them it worked for a couple of days and then stopped again. Someone told us that it could be the heater that’s causing the problem but dh has had this tested at work and was told it’s fine. What else could cause the themostats to keep breaking.

Firstly, did you get the correct thermostat kit as there are two types depending on the serial number ?

It may also not be them, there is another thermostat at the front and also one of the timers can cause no heat on these.

It may be worth asking an engineer to check further if you’re unsure, check the repairs@ link below if you need one 🙂

Power off if investigating yourself please :zap:

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes we did get the right thermostat kit we had to change them last year aswell. Dh has bypassed the thermostat on the back (only to test) and the heater does heat up but only on 2 of the 4 bars. Because it works when he bypasses the thermostats we assume that it’s not the timer as we thought if it was it wouldn’t heat up at all. Hope you understand that.

Is it the ‘stat or the thermal overload cut-out (coloured spot) that has gone open circuit? If the latter, check the business side of it. If concave not convex, dh might have accidentally pushed it in during handling. Easily done.

    Power off etc.

    Repairs@ if stuck.
