Last week when I wanted to use it I started it and then it stopped after about 1 or 2 minutes and all the lights flashed yellow except Clean Condenser which flashed red but when I opened it there was no heat I left it and re-tried it several times over a few days but it kept happening.

I assumed the Heating element was broke so opened it up and it was, it was basically all destroyed and hanging by a thread.

So I ordered a new one and fitted it yesterday but when I plugged it in to turn it on it doesn’t even turn on now(the tumble dryer its self) and im not sure whats wrong.

Have you had the dryer from new? Have you seen all the publicity about these dryers, if not you should check it out at once. The official line from Whirlpool is to stop using them.

Ok thanks, I didnt know about that. I bought it from new a log time ago, that long ago I can’t remember when it is over 5 years probably. Will I be able to contact them then?

I can see how it is a fire hazard as, as I mentioned the heating element thing was falling apart when I opened it up, the coils were all broken and hanging.

It has been all over the TV, newspapers and the internet for over two years. You should register it at once but you may have a long wait for a result. 🙁

Just Google Hotpoint dryer fire risk and you will get some idea of the magnitude of the problem.

Thanks, I did go on that link and fill it in. Hopefully not waiting too long. I didn’t even know about the problem, probably used to for a couple of hours a day for years.

I see the problem is fluff getting into the heating element which actually must have happened on mind and why the heating element was broken as I dont see how it would get badly damaged and look ripped apart otherwise.

    Re: Hotpoint TCL770 Aquarius help

The best option is their offer of a new dryer at £59 for vented or £99 for condenser but there are reports of that taking some time now.
The modifications have been many months since the start.

    Re: Hotpoint TCL770 Aquarius help

They only got back to me today, emailed me 6 weeks after I filled that thing in on their website. Gave me the option to choose 1 of 6 condenser dryers or 2 vented ones although only 1 of each are available. I asked them why and they just said they come in and go out of stock keep checking daily.

So who knows when they will have one I want in stock. Awful service.

Just so other people with the same problem know if they see this.
