ParticipantHi all,
I have a Hotpoint TCM65 Tumble Dryer serial number 11100024. It does not heat up at all, during drying cycle.
I have checked the resistance of the heating elements and they are about 85 ohms.
The 2 thermostats on the heater assembly are kind of brown looking on the underside, and the disc at the bottom of them is quite loose. Is this normal? The thermostat marked 36FXE14 is open circuit and the one marked 36TXE11 is short circuit. Anybody any ideas what may be wrong here?
Regards,Col

Both Stat and thermal cut out should be closed circuit! Change them as a pair

Stats available from the shop part No 1701583. Handle the new green spot one with care.
Mains plug removed of course. 😉
If and when it is repaired, make sure the heat exchanger is kept clear and always allow the machine to complete a full cycle including the final 10 minutes cool tumble, don’t stop it half way through.

Hi,
Just to follow up on this fix, I have managed to mix up these two components. Please can anyone tell me the position they should be in?
I can’t believe I didn’t note this, when I removed them I assumed that they were a pair. I now realise that they are different specifications. Any help greaty appreciated.Regards,
Col

There should be a leaflet in the box with the stats.
The green spot one (single shot) goes on the left

I had the same problem on my Electra tumble dryer. Same part numbers. I followed advice from another web site to reset it: drill a small hole in the back and then push a pin in. It worked!!!!

A somewhat temporary and ill advised fix that would not be recommended here by reputable trade members.

A claim that should be thrown away as tampering with a safety cut out is asking for trouble.

Hi Ive just had the exact fault described above on a Creda T602cw.
The 36fxe14(green dot) was open circuit. I ordered a thermostat kit from espares (great video of how to replace them btw) ES1020444 (its the right kit ive double checked) and it didnt work. Turns out the new green dot is O/C too. i carefully unpacking them, but the packaging was flimsy. So im guessing it was damaged in transit. espares are sending out replacements which im hoping will both be Closed Circuit or i might be getting a pin out :-).January 9, 2011 at 9:35 pm #149715 -
