My dryer isn’t heating so with the help of another post on this forum I removed the panels on my dryer to check the thermostats. The blue wire connection to one of the thermostats has blackened and looks to have melted. The dryer still works albeit without heat. Is this something that can be diy repaired or should I call in a professional?

    Many thanks in advance.

to fix you would need the proper crimp tool. the wire would have to be cut back to clean wire otherwise it will overheat and burn again
also you don’t say if this wire is broken so this it not the fault but may have caused it. so you may need to reset or replace the thermostats or another part if it causing it

I would say you need professional help

Thank you both for your replies. On closer inspection, it’s the plastic housing that has melted around the bottom of the spade connector. The wires look to be untouched. I imagine the thermostat is to blame and will need replaced. I will call an engineer out to be safe. I did check on the recall list but I’ll just check again.
