I have recently replaced both the heater element and the pair of stats on above dryer as it wasn’t heating up. One stat had failed but the element was in a very poor condition so replaced that as well.

I am finding that whilst the machine is heating up and runs, but the wife says the clothes aren’t drying. I’ve run a smallish load for a full cycle and they’re still seem as damp as when they were put in.

The fluff filter and the condenser are both clean. I’ve checked the water container and it is empty. Before I start taking it apart, is a “fluff” blockage that is likely to be causing this or am I barking up the wrong tree ❓ Thanks in advance

When you say the condenser is clean…has it been washed out all 4 ways?

Re: Hotpoint TDC 30N Condenser Dryer problem

hope u fitted the right stats
i always fit part number 1701583 on those, its a Little hotter than the red spot ones
neway, yes a fluff build up (normally in the condenser to be fair) would deffo cause that, it would also explain how the one shot thermostat tripped out
typical symptoms are hot clothes, but not drying because theyre not condensing, (it aint gettin rid of the moisture!)

i know u say its clean and people do.. but have u held it upto the light and made sure u can see straight thru it?

other than that theres the duct stat which is located inside the door (on the duct funnily enuff)

much better dryer than those damn ctd00p things theyre making now, well worth a fix

    Thanks for the replies.

Yeah – it’s been washed through all 4 ways and you can see the light through it.

The stat kit fitted was part no. 1701583.

I’ll check the duct stat – do you know what the part number is?

    Cheers

Re: Hotpoint TDC 30N Condenser Dryer problem

Have been meaning to post an update about this.

Checked all the things mentioned and the duct stat appeared fine but dryer was obviously heating up and not drying the clothes.

When I stripped it down, I discovered that one of the belt pulley brackets had snapped off one of its locating lugs. The belt had sufficient grip to slowly turn on the other pulley which meant that the drum was rotating but not at the speed required to dry out the clothes.

I replaced both pulley brackets and the machine has been working fine for a month now
