    Hotpoint TDC-30P condenser

    Intermittently stops heating but continues program, empty water light is lit.

    I can hold in the start button for several seconds and the light goes out, and it then start to heat again, but it goes on again after a short period of time.

    Is it the start and run relay that needs replacing.

    Your diagnosis is correct, you need this:

    Power off when fitting……..
