    Hi all,
The door on a Hotpoint TDC32 tumble dryer would not stay closed. Have fitted a new door catch & latch but the door still will not stay closed. I noticed that the door was binding on the end of the condenser unit. If I remove the condenser unit the door will click shut and stay closed. If I remove the rear rubber gasket from the condenser the door will click shut but water drips onto the floor during use. Do I need to buy a new condenser unit or is there another solution?
I will be grateful for any advice.
    Regards
    AH

    Re: Hotpoint TDC32

I have seen this problem before but have always managed to refit the condenser. The parts identification software lists the condenser unit ( around £33 ex vat) and also a condenser seal. Unfortunately the parts diagram does not show the seal so I have no way of knowing if this seal is at the front or rear.

The seal is under £4.00 ex vat so it might be worth a risk ordering that to see if it cures the fault.

Part numbers are, 1701185 for the seal, 1701149 for the condenser.

An e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should get you full price and delivery details.

    Jim.

    Hi,
Many thanks for the advice. The condenser unit has a rubber gasket on each end. There is also two rubber strips either side of the recess in the door – would it help if I removed these from the door.

The seals are all there for a reason, it may be that they have swollen or distorted.

As I mentioned, the best option costwise would be to try a new seal in place of the one you removed to allow the door to close.
