    Hi All

My TDC32 Tumble Dryer has stopped working.

It’s been making an intermittent soft grinding noise for a couple of weeks, but still doing its job.

Now it’s stopped completely. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned all the fluff that had accumulated inside the case and checked the drive belt is working by manually turning it – and if I turn the fan at on the front of the motor the belt goes round and I can see the motor going round.

But when (carefully) switched on, the motor makes a hum but doesn’t start the drum going round.

    Can anyone help please ?

    Thank you
    Rod

Replace the 8 mf motor start capacitor.

Check the rear shaft/bearing and the front drum support bearings. Both of which produce the classic “soft grinding” noises we know and love of the Hotpoint dryer. 😀
