ParticipantHi everyone, my first post.
Using the very helpful advise here I managed to sort my TDC62 “no heat” problem a few months back with the stat kit.
They have blown again, however it’s a bit more complicated this time. For the last few days or so, before the stats went, it had stopped sensing when the clothes were dry and just runs till you check they’re dry and turn it off manually, which is why I think the stats have gone again.
I have noticed a small hole in the drum which I’m sure wasn’t there before. Looking in the owners manual it points to a sensor in the drum, I’m assuming this sensor should be in the hole.
If I’m correct does anyone know what part I need to order? I’m also assuming it should be easy to fit, having had the top off.

Several parts involved in this assembly, have you not found any in the laundry ?
Sensor head. 1740385
Sensor holder 1740386
Sensor support 1740387This does not include the nut and lock washer. that secure these parts to the drum. You may find those in the bottom of the dryer.

I did ask SHMBO about that, she says she hasn’t found any bits. I have found a nut and a white washer that it fits in, in the bottom of the dryer.
Thanks for your help and the part numbers.
I’ve had a look around this site, are they available from here?

They will not be in the shop, to be honest I have never had to use any of these parts, however an e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should do the trick.

Cheers, I’ll give that a go.

Parts have now arrived, great service as 3 of them were not stock items and the festive holidays. 😀
Looks straight forward to fit.
Sensor head slots into holder and goes inside the drum through the hole. The sensor holder support goes on the outside of the drum over the protruding thread and the nut on top of the support (not in the hole of the support) holds it all in place.
The cutouts are no problem, I’ve changed them before.
However I don’t want to turn it all back on and risk blowing the cutouts again, as the sensor is not connected to anything, how does it work? 😕
Am I missing some parts or does it work in some way I can’t see?

No wires attached, a small current is passed through the damp clothes and sensed via the sensor and a small copper brush that rubs against the top of the drum. As the clothes dry their resistance increases, this is measured by the control module.

Thanks, that makes sense.
Current from drum through clothes to sensor, to strip on the outside of drum, to brush, to module.
So I do seem to be missing a part as there is no connection from the sensor to the strip on the outside of the drum, the sensor is totally isolated electrically.
I’ll have a look and see if I can find some more bits in the bottom of the dryer but as I didn’t notice anything before is there a part number I need to order?

Having looked closer I’m now thinking the strip has slipped round the drum.
I have noticed there is a hole in the insulation between the strip and the drum big enough for the sensor holder support and a hole in the strip for the thread of the sensor.
The dryer was being used without the sensor in place for a while so I think this allowed the strip to move around the drum and also across the drum which is why the sensor is now a 1/4 of a turn from the hole it’s supposed to go in and 1cm clear of the strip, so no connection from the sensor to the strip.
Can you confirm?
