ParticipantHi
Got this customers dryer..
Basically the blower fan has warped and was making contact with the metalwork and causing a terrible noise..Anyway I tried to replace fan, only to find that all that was holding it on was RUST!
The motor shaft has practically rusted through where the fan connects..So now customer wants a new motor fitted
What I need to know, is there a easy way to do this …
Or does this involve a drum removal..Any service manuals would be handy also
I await your replays
Thanks

L MOTOR
1 Remove the top cover (A)
2 Remove the right hand side panel (F) and lay the machine onto its back.
3 Remove the 2 screws holding the motor bracket to the base.
4 Stand the machine upright.
5 Revolve the drum to a position where one of the recessed undersides of the drum lifters is situated
above the upper air duct moulding. Unclip the upper air duct from lower air duct and swing the upper
air duct round and out of the side of the machine.
6 Detach the drum belt from the jockey pulleys.
7 Remove the heater cover, hose clip and recirculating impeller from the motor shaft and the 2 retaining
screws inside the rear duct. Disconnect the wiring and lift the motor and bracket from the base of
machine, by turning the motor and bracket anti-clockwise until the bracket clears the base.
The assembly can now be eased forward until the shaft is clear of the rear duct.
8 Remove the belt from the motor shaft and front rotor and when the motor is clear, the hose clip and
front rotor can be removed.
9 Remove the 2 screws retaining the motor to the bracket and lift the motor away from its bracket.
NOTE: – If the metal air deflector becomes detached from the lower ducting, it is advisable to hold
the deflector in place using tape, until the two halves of the duct are re-clipped together.August 10, 2012 at 3:47 pm #379316Muv

That is verbatim from the manual, it always sounds easy when you read it. 😉
