Hotpoint tdc62 not sensing clothes are dry

Having replaced belt, drive shaft and thermostats my tdc62 now operates as required except it doesn’t recognise when the clothes are dry. The sensor disc popped off when the belt snapped so I’m not sure if this is fitted correctly. Currently, I have the sensor, the sensor holder and a nut securing it to the sensing strip. Could the problem be the front thermostat? The drum spins, heats up, dries clothes, just doesn’t stop by itself.

Or it could be the dryness module but that’s a scary price. 🙁
