ParticipantI have come accross a Hotpoint TDC62G condensing sensor tumble dryer which is popping the one shot 106o toc (kit number 1701583 green spot). I have checked all the usual, the condensor unit is perfectly clear and air flow is fine and so is the filter. The TOC inside the door also is working ok. I am unable to test this machine to see if the cool down is working as it’s a sensor dryer which leads me to think the pcb may have failed causing the machine to not cool down before the end of cycle perhaps. The PCB is expencive so Im lothed to order it incase its not the real fault. Also the connection for the brush wich works on the sensing system is all in perfect working order with no bad connections. Anybody any ideas?
Thank you.

May I just correct you one that one? The Green spot ‘one shot’ TOC is in fact 130 degrees 😉

OK fine on everything you have checked…very good! But what exactly are the symptoms the user is finding with this (apart from it suddenly not heating of course). And if you were able to put in a load of damp washing, does the machine reverse tumble OK?
By the way, you could always fit a Qualtex (TOC26) auto-reset 130 degree TOC in it just for testing purposes you understand? 🙂
Just a footnote thought?….Are you fitting the stats the right way around I wonder?…Green spot to the left don’t forget otherwise the one shot will not perform the same as a 106 degree stat and will surely blow pretty quickly. 😉

PCB failure can cause constant stat failure. You will normally see the heater neon illuminated as soon as you select a programme, before you start the machine if this is the case.
I do not understand why EMW or QER will not repair these modules, I am sure it is only a sticking heater relay.

make sure customer is not taking load out before cycle finished, this also kills stats as no cool down period is alowed.. obvious i know but these women all do it :rolls:

Participant1. Customer overloading the drum gives
reduced air flow blowing cut out2. Remove the condenser and check the cooling fan looks clean, dog hair blockage ?
3. Replace front drum stat, if this fails to cycle
the heater cycles on heater statRoy

Hi,
had one recall due to a faulty motor cap.

I Think my origonal thoughts of a faulty PCB could be behind this one. I have it sat in my workshop under-going lots of tests with damp washing. I drilled a hole in the back of the stat so I can keep re-setting it. The drying neon is on before the start button is pressed as Iadom mentioned. This inspired me to give the relay switches a quick tap with a screwdriver handle and the drying light is now out, but it has now developed a no motor action fault… Ehhhhh things we do for money…. Thanks for your help guys. Customer thinking about goiong back to Hotpoint under 5year parts warrenty.

Your initial description pointed towards PCB, I have changed a few for exactly this fault, after eliminating all of the helpful suggestions above.

Hi Jim
I am sure that I have had QER repair one of these boards in the past, if it is the board that I am thinking about, then the fault was a faulty transformer on it 😉

I have had at least three, all with exactly the same sticking relay fault, phoned both and they didn’t want to tackle them.
