    Hey there all,

Names is Paul and brand new to the forums here, I just installed a new fan for my Hotpoint TDC970P dryer and first I ordered the fan and I found it about 1″ smaller in depth than the old one so assumed that it was the wrong fan..

So I ordered another, and again 1″ smaller in depth than the original.. I’m heating and cooling engineer so happen to know enough about fans to know that they need to sit fully in there housing to ensure no escaping air passes the end of the fan.. So I wondered why they have mad the new fans smaller and Is my dryer safe as i have also just changed the heater assembly too and want to be sure this isn’t going to burn out as there isn’t enough air passing it?

I have attached an image so you can see the issue, I’m sute to some of you this is a common replacement part so any help you can offer here would be greatly appreciated..

    Much appreciated,
    Paul..

The smaller fan does work perfectly, the larger fan was very often a source of extreme noise. This fan is not the heater fan, it is the cold air intake fan for the condensor, the heater fan is at the back as you may well have observed . 😉

Oh I assumed that was the case as that is the reason I have replaced this one, as it seems to have warped due to heat and wondered if they made them smaller to prevent them from fouling on the casing?

Much appreciate your help iadom.. 😉
