Hotpoint TDL 34P Static Shock

[Turbo]

Customer getting static shock when tumbling mostly man made fibres. Any tips on this one.

Maybe needs new drum earthing strip? That flimsy bit of copper that plays on rear spindle.

Earth strip ok but is there a special lubricate (grease) for the strip?

Possibly. Jim (Iadom) would likely know. You could PM him ‘cos he might not read this. I should think it would take quite a long while to wear out anyway. You often find them quite worn when you go to change the bearing.

Nothing mentioned in any manuals. ❓

Its based on a very old Creda design TBH. I usually use any decent lubricant I can lay my hands on although its possible it should be something specially conductive. 😳

This is all I can find in a manual.

EARTH STRIP
As the drum is supported in plastic bearings, it is necessary to provide a means of earthing.
A phosphor bronze strip, fixed to the earthed rear panel, is made to bear on the drum support shaft
and is lubricated with grease to provide wear resistance.

My other half gets static shocks from everything she touches including me!
I can be sitting with the lap top on my knee and she says goodnight,passes me the TV remote and an audible and visible spark jumps the gap, the computer screen goes blank and I have to restart and reset all my passwords and preferences.
Then she walks into the kitchen and gets a belt from the cooker or maybe a radiator or anything that is earthed.
I think it’s the flip flop slippers she wears dragging over the carpets and charging her up to high voltage static but guess what it’s all my fault! :rolls:

static shock are always a problem to pin down especially if the customer thinks its a 230v shock

dont normally get too many problems in winter

try using fabric conditioner its antistatic
nylon carpets can be a problem if you think this is it wet it with fabric conditioner and water mix in a hand spray that should sort it
