    Hi

    My tumber dryer has stopped working. When turned on, all you can hear is a humming noise but the drum doesn’t start turning/heating. After maybe 10secs turned on there is a definite burning smell.

    At the time it happened, it had been getting quiet a bit of use that day (a few hours) and the load at the time was towels, so may have got overheated?

    The dryer is just over two years old.

    Any ideas what the problem might be?

    Cheers in advance

    Yes, it will need a new Capacitor (Part No 1702386) or this one 🙂

    Thanks for that.
    I’ve located the capacitor (I assume the correct one) from the back of the dryer and removed it.
    The code on it is 1.27.4AD2 MKP and that it’s 7.5uF +/- 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

    Will the universal 8uF be ok?

    Also, from the capacitor I’ve removed I’ve taken a note which way round the connectors were, although there doesn’t seem to be anything to distinguish the pins on the capacitor. Does it matter which connection goes on which pin?

    Cheers

    Yes, it will be fine 🙂

    It doesn’t matter which way round the two leads go, just remember to keep the appliance unplugged when checking :zap:

    Many thanks Martin & Dave for your help!
