Hotpoint TL51P belt

Hi,
Not been to this yet but sounds like it’s a broken belt. Connect lists it as 1860H7 and says, “This is not to be used as a replacement for 1703666” 😕 which is the 9 rib belt of which I have adequate stocks. Does anyone have intimate knowledge of this particular model, please?

Correct belt size for a TL51 is a 1894H7 you should never use it in place of a 1703666. You may be able to squeeze a 1703666 onto a TL51, personally trying to force it over the two jockey pulleys would be rather awkward. This is not a TDL which was the earlier ( 1701658 ) stretchy belt type.

Correct belt for a TL51 is a 1700442, takes about five minutes to fit.

Thanks guys. I’m so glad to hear there’s jockey pulleys in there. Was anticipating knackered bearings etc. Much prefer simple jobs.

Tip it upside down, remove the kickstrip and as long as your arms aren’t over developed 😉 you can ease the front panel forward and slide the new belt around the drum and over the motor & pulleys, take care not to pull to hard on the wiring and make sure the large vent tube is back in place when you close the front up, its basically a bog standard Creda design.

heres how I do it
right hand side off ease the front forward use a small screwdriver to unblock the fluff from the guides thread the belt over the front and spring the pulleys to fit the belt good job!

Good advice guys, thanks. Turned out I had the 1894 belt in stock too. Tried Jim’s method but couldn’t get front to come away from drum. (Maybe my arms are over-developed). So reverted to Wilf’s method. Soon realised I’d done these before by laying m’c on it’s back and removing front completely. New method a bit quicker but encourages laziness. With my old method I used to give the insides a vacuum out.
