we have an hotpoint first edition dryer model number TDL12P used it last night and big clouds of smoke took the back off and the four heater elements were full of fluff 😀 cleaned it all out put it back together and switched it on turns round fine but no heat had another look and one of the “little metal round things” above the heater “think they must be thermostats” was all brown and sticky daft question but do you think this is the cause ???
Sounds like it’s melted. Replace both thermostats with kit no. 1701896 – click on Shop@ and follow from there.
Make sure the heater is fully defluffed, also check the condition of the filter – this maybe letting fluff through.
Do nothing without pulling the plug first.
