Would appreciate your opinion on whether to replace the pin or reuse the old one when changing the tear drop back bearing on hotpoint tumble dryers.

At the moment, I am getting the repair kits as they are cheaper than buying the separate parts. I usually only use the bearing and the pin out of the kit, leaving me with lots of extra parts, which seems wasteful.
The tear drop bearing is cheap enough, but the pin I can’t find for less than a tenner which is a complete p***-take, some even sell it for over £20!!

I’ve always assumed that once you straighten the pin, it will loose its integrity, so is a part that should be never be refitted.
    What do you think?

refitted lots of pins with no problem but would only do it once

cant believe Hotpoint want £16 for a bit of bent wire

you could probably find a nail the correct size you could buy a handfull for less than that

Had a look on eBay and can find split pins correct size for the job in marine grade stainless steel for about £4 for 10, even cheaper for regular stainless steel. Should be easier to fit too!
