Johno,
You have already asked this same question (yesterday) and it has been answered my friend. Do please try to contain one question to one thread, thanks 😉
…and in the appropriated forum is best! 😀

I’m not sure if there is a design fault to be honest, it looks much like any other Creda made dryer, but the front is slightly different.
What’s actually happened, has the front drum support been cut through ?
Part number for the front support complete is 1702760 at £14.60 ex VAT list if it helps.

The drum has dropped, it is like the belt is to tight and is pulling it away from the front of the machine. The drum would normally sit on the dry bearing at the front of the machine, and there are what look like locating slots 3 all together that the drum rotates round on. And inside these slots are 3 plastic spacers they look a little worn but not anything major.

It’s a streeetch on belt alright, it should be 9PHE1860.
You could be right in that case, poor quality cabinet and it flexes too much allowing the drum to “fall off” the front support 😕
Perhaps one of the Merloni engineers that frequent here could enlighten us ?
And this 😉

Drum shaft kit required.
Includes:-
1 new extended rear bearing shaft.
1 or 2 spacer washers.
1 new rear bearing.
4 new front bearing pads.
1 new front felt strip.
1 new rear sponge/felt seal (extra thick).
1 new shaft pin.Fit the lot and it will push the complete drum forward about half an inch. Stops the drum falling off the front support and stops the drum from fouling the back panel. Can also be fitted on the condensor dryers to remove the front wheels which sound horrendous. 😕
1703080. not sure on price but around £15 to £20

Have had Indesit IS60V with motor melted belt still under warranty. Cust son had taken it apart. Perhaps the same had happened to this?

The early ones had a disastrous failure rate for the drum fault but I was told from a good source that the newer production was OK. Maybe not…
I fear another example of Indesit ‘quality’….

ParticipantThanks for the info Flyman, had two of the same fault and been changing bearings and rear seal – even tried shiming the drum forward in one case it was so bad. It’s great to know there’s a mod kit out there.

Also a modified back plate out to stop the drum fouling the rear vents and the recessed area where the vent tube fits. It comes with the new enlarged rear seal already fitted. Lots of mods to these dryers due to noise problems. 🙄
