Hotpoint tumble dryer TVFS83 just 12 months old

Hi, I have a HotpointTVFS83 tumble dryer. It was working ok……..belt snapped…….fitted new belt…..now won’t run unless I turn the drum by hand, then the pause for reverse and the same thing won’t start. ?????

have you check all the wires are secure round the motor as it sound like the motor capacitor is not connected

Hi, Dave, thanks for your reply, checked connections to motor/pack and all plugs. Just tried it again and I noticed arcing coming from the motor windings, does that mean it’s terminal????

well it means it needs a motor

is it under or over 12 months

It’s just about 12 months old, it was a new replacement for one of those faulty recall dryers, they charged me £69 to exchange it….short-changed a little I think. thanks Dave for your help, great job you’re doing on here, take care. Mike Lewis.
