Is it acceptable/feasible to drill out the rivets holding the shaft to the drum and attaching a new shaft? Also when I’ve searched for parts I can’t find the usual Hotpoint front bearing pads. Do they use something different?
Heard a couple of the indesit guys use a wood chisel to knock the shaft off only problem is some of the newer drums the shaft kit doesnt line up with the holes on the drum.
Done a few of late. Just whacked the old shaft off. Its luck if you leave any sharp edges though. I just used the parts that come with the version 4 drum kit. Pads included.
I used to chisel off but now always drill, it is neater and no risk of damage to the drum. I always fit the V4 complete kit, C00113038 and charge accordingly. To be fair it is a good repair and will give the machine a new lease of life!
