My washing machine has been in storage for 1 year. It is now connected to a cold water only supply, the plumber said it would be ok to leave the hot water inlet disconnected. However, I’ve now read the instruction manual online and it says a cold fill adapter is required. I’ve used the washer with both powder in the drawer and liquid in a ball placed inside the drum. My problem is that the conditioner will not dispense from the drawer. I’ve given it a good clean but it’s made no difference. Does anyone have any idea how I fix this? Is it related to the absence of the cold fill adapter?

Your plumber is not quite correct I’m afraid. As you have a machine with both Hot and Cold supplies you need a supply to both. Now, if you only have a cold supply to your machine then you with need what we call in the trade as a “Y piece adaptor” (available via emailing spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk ) That effectively joins the two pipes into one supply, and your machine should work fine as a result?

Thanks for the speedy reply. Will get hold of the adapter and let you know if that fixes the problem

Fabric conditioner is dispensed when the conditioner valve operates. This is a cold water valve so should operate whether or not hot water is connected to the machine.

Indespoint, could it be a faulty conditioner valve then? Is that simple to repair?
